Carpet Cleaning: Care, Tips & FAQ's

Carpet Care and Tips:

Mississauga, Georgetown, Brampton, Mississauga, Burlington, GTA, Oakville, HaltonAt Carpet Care Solution, we have many years of experience in keeping your carpets clean.  Over the years, we have heard many different carpet cleaning tips that you can easily use at home.  Some of them are actually very effective and can reduce the need for you to have your carpets cleaned and repaired professionally. Here is a collection of the best carpet cleaning tips that we know of:

The easiest way to take care of your carpets is to vacuum regularly.
You might not want to hear that you should vacuum more regularly, but unfortunately there is no way around it. Many carpet problems—including odors and discoloration—happen because dust, dirt, and other particles are ground in deep within your carpet’s fibers.  The best way to prevent that from happening is to remove the dust and dirt while it is still on the surface of your carpet, and before it becomes deeply embedded.

Dry Soil is your carpets worst enemy.  It causes abrasion wear and destroys the high tech properties that were built into the carpet fibers.  Remember to change the bag when ¾ full, remember to spend more time on the high traffic areas and also carpets don’t wear out they ugly out.
You can also do yourself a favor by investing in a newer, high quality vacuum every so often, instead of trying to do the job with a run-down older model.  The better care you take of your carpet on a day to day basis, the less often that we will have to visit!

Spots and stains can be tricky.  Don’t rub, blot!  And if you don’t know how to clean a particular spot, please give us a call.
If you own a carpet, you are guaranteed to have to deal with spot cleaning at some point.  Even if you have taken all possible preventive measures, accidental spots and stains will happen.  The most important thing to remember when you are dealing with spots and stains is that you should not panic.  There are many methods that are effective in removing even a terrible looking spot.  What is also important is that you start to clean the spot as quickly as is possible after the accident has occurred.  Generally speaking, you never want to rub or scrub a spot on your carpet.  That will just push the spot deeper into the carpet, and make it bigger.  Instead, you need to blot the spot, placing an absorbent towel over the spot to suck up the material.  If that doesn’t work to completely remove the spot, and you are stuck for a solution, please call CCS at 905-819-0462—we can help you start treating the spot right away.

Any time that you use a store-bought cleaner, make sure to test it on a small hidden, spot on your carpet, to make sure that it will not harm your carpet’s color.  Perform test before you need to use it.  It has to dry before you will know if it will damage your carpet.  When you have a problem you want to take care of it a.s.a.p.

If you use a store-bought cleaner to try to treat a stain on your carpet, please make sure that you test a small, hidden area of your carpet with the cleaner and wait for it to dry before you apply the cleaner to your entire carpet.  If the cleaner is made by a reputable manufacturer, then its label should tell you to do the same thing.  Far too often, though, we have seen homeowners try to treat one small stain, and end up damaging the color of their entire carpet.  If you ever have any doubt about how to treat a stain on your carpet, just give us a call.

WHEN I PURCHASED MY CARPET THERE WAS A PROTECTANT ON IT, HOW LONG DOES IT USUALLY LAST? HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE IT REAPPLIED?

While most carpets are sold with a protection present, it does not last forever. Everyday wear and tear, such as foot traffic, and successive carpet cleanings break down this protective barrier.

WHEN I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE CABLE COMPANY THEY MAKE ME WAIT ALL DAY. WHAT CAN I EXPECT AS FAR AS ARRIVAL TIME?

You won't be waiting all day because CCS provides a 1-hour arrival time.  If circumstances arise that we cannot make your visit our office will call as soon as possible.

DOES CARPET EVER GET SO WORN THAT IT JUST CAN'T LOOK CLEAN ANYMORE?

We can greatly improve the appearance of heavily soiled carpets. However, in high traffic areas abrasion wear can destroy the carpet fibers to the point where the carpets can look even more soiled that they are even after they have been cleaned.

IS CCS A FRANCHISE?

Helping Improve Indoor Air Quality

Studies have shown that regular steam cleaning along with proper vacuuming maintenance will improve indoor air quality

Carpet can be wrongly blamed for contributing to asthma and allergies. Studies have shown that carpet is better at trapping allergens than hard surface, such as tile or hardwood, because carpet fibers catch particles and allergens that fall to floor. When allergens are trapped in the carpet, they cannot circulate in the air for you to breathe. Proper cleaning with a CRI-tested and approved vacuum effectively sucks up the dirt and dust from the carpet, locks it in the machine and keeps it out of the air.   Read more.

A misperception is that people with asthma and allergies should avoid carpet in the home. But much of today's carpet is made from harmless materials found in clothing and other everyday fabrics, such as polyester, nylon and olefin fibers, which don't trouble most people.
